Mombo’s accommodation has undeniable charm, but the quality of the game is simply spectacular and is the main drawing card of the camp. Along with huge numbers of giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and plains, this is the only place in the Delta where the ‘Big 5’ can be seen—rhino have been successfully introduced to the area and large herds of elephant and buffalo are common. The main attraction, however, is the huge number of cats. Mombo concession is predator heaven and lion sightings are often seen in the same game drive as leopard and the resident cheetah, all of whom are well known by the guides. Wild dogs are also commonly sighted in the area; the game drives are unparalleled in the Delta.
