See the ‘Pattaya City’ sign? Now see the large island off in the gulf to the right of that? That is Koh Lan, otherwise known as Coral Island, and it should definitely be on your Pattaya “to-do” list. Look back at the Pattaya sign. Koh Lan is a perfect day-trip away for the chaos and traffic of Pattaya. Known for its white sand beaches and clear waters, both of which are the best you can find in Pattaya, here you can relax the day away doing nothing but working on your tan; or get out there and hit the water. Snorkeling, para-sailing, and sea walking are just some of the activities to pass the day away.
Look back at the giant Pattaya City sign. See the harbour beneath it? That’s Bali Hai Pier and that is how you get to Koh Lan. Speed boat tickets can range from 1,500-2,000 baht per person, or more if it is not a full boat. Alternatively, the slow ferry costs 30 baht and departs at 8 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM and 1 PM. Ask for Tawaen Beach; return ferry trips depart from Koh Lan hourly from 1 PM to 5 PM.
