Four times a year, the picturesque and tranquil Campo Santa Maria Nova - and surrounding streets - are turned into a hive of market activity. Venetians eager for a spring clean bring out their unwanted bric-a-brac and antiques to sell; everything from comics and leather shoes to centuries-old mirrors and glassware.

You really can find anything here, if you rummage hard enough. And, because all the vendors are normal citizens, not professional traders, there's plenty of scope for haggling on price.
