The Koala Conservation Centre, an eco initiative, is a beautiful place to get up close to these gentle and adorable creatures. Established as a place to protect koalas on the island away from human dangers, it provides detailed information not only about the centre itself but also educates and encourages everyone to do their bit in this endeavour through colourful displays that tell the koala story. It is fun to walk for miles inside the reserve on an elevated boardwalk which meanders amidst trees representing the natural bushland habitat of the koalas, sometimes even going to the top where it is easier to spot them clinging to trees. Keep your eyes peeled since the reserve also houses other animals such as wallabies and echidnas.
