There are few places in Mumbai that reveal the city’s glorious coastline the way Marine Drive does. Just 500 meters from Churchgate Station and you’re on the Southern seafront of Mumbai which has a coastline that arches into a semicircle of street lights, creating a sight that is locally called the ‘Queen’s necklace’. Marine Drive in Mumbai is a 3.6 km long boulevard, which is constructed in a C-shaped six-lane concrete road which runs along the Arabian Sea coast in South Mumbai. Bhaktibhushan Shreeman Bhagojisheth Keer and Shree Palonji Mistry, the two great philanthropists were the mastermind behind this. The promenade looks stunning with skyscrapers and palm trees lined in the same direction. A number of buildings here were built by rich Parsis and it’s quite evident with the art deco style architecture, which was a craze during early 1920s and 1930s. As it is one of the posh areas in the city, there’s no dearth of hotels near Marine Drive Mumbai. Almost all the prominent hotel chains in the country and world have their branches here such as The Oberoi, Mumbai, Trident Hotel, Nariman Point Mumbai and InterContinental. Tourists prefer to stay here as the view of the city from Marine Drive Mumbai is truly spellbinding.

The place is not only popular because of its beauty but is also known for its celebrity sighting status! A number of eminent personalities from Bollywood and other industries have their bungalows here Pooja Bhatt being one of them. The south Mumbai is obviously noted for this thing majorly and people from all over come here to get a glimpse of their favourite actors. Second best thing about this place is Chowpaty Beach, which remains flooded with people all the time always. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the city with much fervour and enthusiasm and during this time a lot idols are submerged in the sea water after the festivities are over. Marine Drive also witnesses a huge rush of people and devotees during this time and the environment remains quite colourful and playful during that time.
