A storehouse of information about the island’s history and culture, the Manx Museum located in the capital city of Douglas is a perfect way to begin your tour of this fascinating island. With a plethora of interactive displays, photographs and exhibits, the museum traces the wonderful heritage of Isle of Man. The introductory film about the island’s 10000-year-old history is truly amazing. The story of the oldest parliament, the Tynwald, and the evolution of the world famous Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) Race including the TT course is depicted in detail. There are wonderful exhibits on the unique landscape of the island along with its flora and fauna. The displays on the days of the war and the development of the transport system are noteworthy and so are the exhibits related to the Viking journey. There is a small cafeteria and also a gift shop where you can pick up a souvenir or two about this fascinating destination.
