Also known as Makhan Tol, this area is situated north of the famous Durbar Square. If you are someone who loves to follow the culture and fine arts heritage of a city, you must be here to get a slice of Kathmandu’s artistic side. Makahan Tole is immensely popular among shoppers who flock to this place for thangka, paubha and other fine arts. Thangka is a form of Tibetan art where a piece of silk cloth is embroidered with the Buddhist deities or mandalas. Paubha, on the other hand is the Nepalese answer to Thangka. It is in from of a scroll upon which painting are done.
