Lodhi Gardens

This sprawling green oasis in Central Delhi is dotted with medieval tombs, mosques, bridges and watchtowers built by the Lodhi and the Sayyid dynasties, who ruled over Delhi in the 15th century. Monuments like the Shish Gumbad and Bara Gumbad, and the octagonal tombs of Muhamad Shah Sayyid and Sikandar Lodhi are well-preserved examples of pre-Mughal Islamic architecture in north India. As joggers and strollers wind their way around the garden, these concrete remains are a photographer's delight. Lodhi Garden is also the preferred walking track for Delhi's elite, so don't be surprised if you find yourself walking shoulder-to-shoulder with the country's politicians.
