The ski village of Les Diablerets' high altitude makes it great for winter and early spring skiing, but there's more to the place's winter sports offerings than hurtling downhill alone. Snow-shoe walking, ice fall climbing and even sledges pulled by huskies are also on offer, while cross country ski trails are illuminated by night. Read less

Alpine antics in year round resort
Word to the wise: In season, it's possible to take Les Diablerets' cable cars all the way to the neighbouring German speaking town of Gstaad.
Once the main pistes' snow has melted, Les Diablerets calms down a bit, but it's no winter-only resort. With stunning views of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, it's a well-known hiking centre, while it also has an "Alpine Coaster" - the world's highest bobsleigh run (on rails, not ice) from May to early October. You can even ski a bit in summer, with cross country routes staked out across its glacier's permanent snow and ice cover.
