For locals, this is probably the most resourceful market in the entire city. It’s crowded, congested and can be extremely mind-boggling to work you way around, but there’s nothing you won’t find in Lajpat’s narrow lanes. From kitchen utensils, home décor items and shoes, to fabric, flashy borders and everything in between—there are shops selling it all at great prices. If you want to get a wedding outfit at short notice, you’ll be able to buy the material—borders, add-ons, embellishments et al—dye it, and find a tailor who’ll stitch it for you in a one km parameter. If you’re hunting for party decorations and favours, the market has more than a few shops that sell everything from styrofoam plates and plastic glasses to festive cut-outs, party hats and even elaborate face masks. Whatever you need—you’re bound to find it right here.
