You don’t have to remotely be an art-expert, to relish the largest collection of works by German expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Seen as one of the most talented and influential of Germany’s expressionists, some of the paintings collected here are moving renditions of Alpine landscape. What’s significant is that the show, while presenting a selection of Kirchner’s work in the classic style of painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture – does not limit itself to classic art forms, instead brings in aspects of Kirchner himself. You will see Kirchner’s wood blocks, diary, and absinthe bottle, amid his relics. Note the salon-style employed in installing the exhibits in which maximum use of the wall surface is made.
