Jews have known to be settled in Hungary from the beginning of 14th century. Hungary’s liberal policies saw steady rise of Jewish population. World's second largest and Hungary’s largest, The Great Synagogue on Dohany Street is located here. Rich in history, culture and traditions, Jewish Quarter in Budapest is now a thriving business district. For tourists it is known to be the most happening part of Budapest with presence of cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants. Narrow lanes of Kazinczy Street hosts number of bars and pubs created out of ruins of run down old buildings or cellars, famously known as Ruin Bars. Old brick walls are left as it is or covered with graffiti giving them vibrant bohemian feel. The courtyards inside the rubble are converted into open air beer gardens. Some of the most famous spots include Szimpla Kert, 400 Bar and Ellato Garden. After a long day of marvelling architectural grandeur, head to the Jewish Quarter and enjoy Budapest Nightlife with locals in famous ‘Ruin Bars’. If you have a great appetite for alcohol, go for an epic Pub Crawl, visiting all famous places in a single night out, trying various classics and concoctions. This is a famous activity amongst young travellers!
