Bangkok’s very own entertainment district, Patpong is the hub of debauchery. As the initial birthplace of Thailand’s infamous go-go bars and sex industry, Patpong remains the city’s largest red light district. Yet, because Patpong is now so notorious, its hundreds of go-go bars are packed chock-a-block with tourists. Visitors looking for a more authentic version should head to Soi Cowboy — located in the slightly more upscale area of Sukhumvit, close to Terminal 21 shopping mall.
With free entry to all of the bars, (and so far there are over 40) Soi Cowboy offers tourists a more light-hearted and relaxed atmosphere. You can let your guard down here completely, as there are fewer scams and more fixed prices. Expect lots of bright lights, loud music, and scantily-clad girls galore. Some of Soi Cowboy’s best go-go bars include Baccara, Kiss A Go Go, and Tilac Bar. Whether you’re up for a wild night-out or just want to explore something different, it’d be a crime not to stroll Soi Cowboy’s scandalous streets at least once, if only to see what all the fuss is about.
