Venice’s canals are one of the real wonders of this city and no visit to Venice would feel complete without at least taking to the water at some point. Taking a gondola ride is one of the most iconic things to do in Venice but it is pricey and the popular canals can get crowded. In addition to vaporetti, gondolas and traghetti, those who are looking for a less expensive and more offbeat option can now tour the canals of Venice by kayak too! So if you aren’t in a hopelessly romantic mood that requires a gondola ride, you can rent a kayak for less money and book a guided tour that will take you through the less crowded Venetian canals while historical points of interest will be revealed as you paddle down narrow waterways and under bridges.
There are various tours offered by several rental companies—half day tours are 90 EUR per person, full day tours are 120 EUR per person, and a Just a Glance tour that takes 30 minutes is only 35 EUR per person. Depending on a tour, this truly unique venture takes you around Venice and its six districts along the Grand Canal, and even across Venetian lagoon.
