Neel Katra or Katra Neel, as the locals like to address the market, is the destination for ladies suits and kurtis. This market started out as a residential area with the wholesale cloth merchants operating from the Cloth Market of Chandni Chowk. However, over time, this market has emerged as a hub for wholesalers and retailers for ladies suits and can boast of the largest variety of on offer for these garments at the most attractive prices. On the other hand, Cloth Market has today become more specialized in furnishings, handloom material and gray cloth. The Mercantile Association of Chandni Chowk includes close to 8000 members of which a large majority operate from Katra Neel. Some of the most reputed and prominent names in the business include MLT (Maha Laxmi Textiles), B.R. Kapoor and Sons and Lakhmi Chand Tejoo Mal. Getting to Katra Neel is easy. Hop on to a peddle rickshaw for Fatehpuri Masjid and from there on proceed towards Red Fort. The entrance to Katra Neel is approximately 100 metres to your left. The entrance bears a little red sandstone gateway that has the name of the market inscribed on it. If you happen to enter Chandni Chowk from the direction of the Red Fort, the market will be on your right.
