Manchester Cathedral

Travellers stop at this larger-than-life cathedral for all manner of reasons. Some because of its fascinating history as one of the city’s oldest buildings as parts of it date back to the 13th century. Also, it’s home to not only some of the best contemporary stained-glass, but also to a fleet of remarkable stone angels—some playing music on an array of instruments employed in the 15th century.

There’s enough to see here to last an entire morning, especially if art fascinates you. Life-size sculptures, gargoyles paintings with a contemporary slant are some of the attractions here.
