The oldest independent Jewish museum in Germany, this is the most important museum to learn and understand Jewish history and culture of Frankfurt, and Germany in general. It enumerates the contribution of Jews to culture, science, politics, and business. You can learn about Jewish settlement, as far back as the 12th century, and the subsequent struggle for social integration. The original place was initially a Jewish ghetto, which was later destroyed, but reinstated in later times for its cultural and historical significance. Visitors can still find memory stones for murdered Jews here at the spot.
