Guwahati railway station in the Northeast has become the first railway station in northeast to run completely on solar power. Indian Railways’ go green and save electricity initiative has proved to be immensely beneficial. The railways is looking up at solar energy to power trains now which is already being used across the country’s transportation network. This one-of-its kind solar power plant built at the Guwahati railway station was first commissioned in April 2017. Guwahati railway station in the Northeast has become the first railway station in northeast to run completely on solar power. Indian Railways’ go green and save electricity initiative has proved to be immensely beneficial. The railways is looking up at solar energy to power trains now which is already being used across the country’s transportation network. This one-of-its kind solar power plant built at the Guwahati railway station was first commissioned in April 2017. The solar plant here along with saving electricity cost is also likely to lessen the carbon footprint on a huge level.
1) The interactive solar plant set up at the Guwahati railway station is 700 kWp, and is installed over the roof of the station. A PP shed is also installed there.
3) The solar plant here is set by Sahibabad’s Central Electronics Ltd.
4) As per Indian Railways, INR 67 lakh will be saved on electricity cost because of this solar power plant.
5) From 12 April, 2017 to 10 May, 2018, the total generation of the solar power plant was 7,96,669 KWH, while per day (average) generation is 2048 KWH.
6) Nearly 2352 solar modules have been set up here, and 6.3 lakh kg carbon dioxide emission was prevented between 12 April, 2017 and 10 May, 2018, which is huge!
