Indian Railways has introduced a new weekly train service between Jalandhar (Punjab) and Darbhanga (Bihar) railway stations, the Jalandhar-Darbhanga Antyodaya Express. The new Antyodaya Express will be flagged off on May 20 from New Delhi by Manoj Sinha, the state minister for railways.
Rajesh Kumar, East Central Railway spokesperson, informed that this new weekly train will leave every Saturday at 3:25 PM from Darbhanga railway station in Bihar, and will reach Jalandhar railway station at 5:17 PM. The next day when returning, the train will leave from Jalandhar station at 10 AM in, the morning every Sunday and reach Darbhanga at 11:30 AM, next day.
The decision of introducing a new exclusive train between these two destinations was taken after it was stated that a huge number of people migrate to Punjab from Darbhanga and nearby districts in search for work. Besides, the train will also help cope with the passenger rush between Punjab and Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
