If you are into adventure sports, it is hard to overlook this adventure sport event in Sikkim. The once-in-a-lifetime mountain biking race in the state of Sikkim is to be held from June 16, 2018. The race is being organised by Sikkim North District Administration, in collaboration with Mountain Goats Adventure Company and Hub Outdoors.
The state of Sikkim is known for its beautiful terrain, and this race is supposedly the highest race in the world. Called the EPIC 17000, the mountain biking race is in its second edition. This year, the themes for the race are ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and ‘Secure Himalayas’, and is aimed to take the race to the global stage.

The race is going to take place in four parts, while covering a total of 330 km distance. On the first day, the race will start from Mangan, and will take riders to Lachung; on the second day, the race will start from Lachung and will lead riders to Yumesamdong, and back to Lachung; the third day’s race will start from Lachung once more, and will lead to Thangu. On the last day, the riders will go to Gurudongmar Lake from Thangu. Needless to say, the race has been prepared in such fashion that the obstacles are bound to increase with each day.
According to reports, the Indian Army will be helping with medical and logistical support for the race. Also, Everest climber, Kazi Sherpa will be leading the rescue team. There will also be two medical units travelling along with the riders.
