Housed in the erstwhile Portuguese Army Headquarters building in Panjim, the Institute Menezes Braganza is a cultural institution which promotes language, literature, art and culture in the state. Founded as a scientific and literary institution in 1871, the centre, originally christened as Institute Vasco da Gama was renamed to Institute Menezes Braganza in 1963. Spread over two floors, the centre houses a small art gallery that showcases a few vintage prints and paintings. The venue now also hosts various events such as musical nights, art exhibitions, talent hunts, book releases and seminars.
