Indian travellers refrain from shopping to save money for travel, reveals survey

A recent survey by a travel search engine has revealed that around 45 percent of travellers from India are looking to spend at least INR 1 lakh on summer travel this year. Not only that, around 16 percent of these Indian travellers are willing to spend more than INR 3 lakhs for travelling this summer, revealed the survey.

"Many Indians today consider travelling as one of the most important parts of life. For them, a good annual holiday is a must every year, and holiday planning is a task demanding care and attention," said Abhijit Mishra, India and Middle East director of the travel search engine brand.

The survey was carried out between January 9th and 17th, which and saw responses coming in from 1,004 Indian residents who were aged between 18 and 65 years.

Interestingly, the survey has revealed that around 38 percent Indians are willing to spend their money on travel above all other pursuits, including shopping, food, and other daily activities. The age group which is more willing to spend on travel is 36-55 years.
Other findings from the survey has revealed that on one hand 53 percent Indians like to save up their money on shopping while they are on a trip, while on the other hand, 57 percent Indians said that they set aside money for the purpose of travel on a regular basis.

What’s even more interesting in the survey findings is that in order to save money for travelling, 34 percent Indians refrain from shopping, while 22 percent take up an extra job.
