Reportedly, these trains will be operated on the upcoming high speed corridors that will be announced in the month of April this year. Railways minister Piyush Goyal has given railway board the responsibility of identifying high-speed corridors, and also work on ways in which the cost of constructing the same can be cut down by half.

Currently, the cost of construction of high-speed railway tracks of the Indian Railways is INR 100 crore per kilometre approximately. According to an Indian Railways official, the rail regulation body is looking to slash this by taking different measures, such as building single pillar and two track corridors on the top of national highways or even on the railway tracks that are already there.
