A vastly sprawling archipelago of about 260 little islands, Hong Kong can be experienced in typical old-world style by maneuvering the rugged coast in a hired ‘junk’ (a traditional Chinese fishing boat). Pack a picnic basket (don’t forget a six-pack of beer) and drop anchor at a deserted spot to dive into the clear water before you sit down for lunch. Companies like Jaspas and Saffron will even include an onboard lunch and service. All junks set sail from either Pier nine in Central or Kowloon Public Pier. If you’re in a group, you don’t want to miss this opportunity.
