Hire the Matheran-Neral toy train for INR 1 lakh, that's right!

Yes, you read that right. Train lovers can now hire the famous toy train that runs between Matheran and Neral in Maharashtra for a sum of around INR 1 lakh. Queries have already started to pour in regarding the booking of this train. If you too swear by Sheldon Cooper’s love for trains, this is just the chance that you might have been waiting for. Needless to say, the Neral-Matheran toy train route is quite picturesque as well.

Booking the train will give you an all exclusive access to its four coaches, including three 2nd class and one 1st class coach. A total of 100 passengers can enjoy this journey in a go. As per an official statement, the said train will leave from Matheran during morning hours and will make its journey back in the same evening. So, if you fancy the idea of taking your guests or throwing a train party, this is certainly your chance. This move has come as an initiative by the Indian Railways to promote hill rail tourism in the region. It is expected that the department will be starting off with more such chartered train to meet its vision. To be more precise, an approximate INR 95,000 will have to be shelled out to have this unique experience. The pricing includes only the train fare and meals have to be bought for an added sum.
As per an official statement, “Being a government agency, we cannot offer any discounts in rates. The rates have been fixed by the CR and we only charge nominal fee for the booking done through us.”

In an earlier move, the Matheran toy train saw the inclusion of an AC coach, drawing in an impressive number of enthusiasts. The journey from Matheran to Neral aboard this toy train takes close to 3 hours and lets the travellers pore over some really scenic vistas. The journey covers around 21 km on this stretch.
