Even a casual walk around Sligo is enough to indicate that WB Yeats is front and centre, and everywhere. Hargodans Bros Pub on O’Connell Street is a traditional Irish pub with the interiors retained as it was more than a century ago. It sometimes organises events around the poet; for an entire year volunteers read Yeats’ poems at 1 pm everyday to commemorate the poet’s 150 birth anniversary. Across from the Yeats’ statue is an endearing eatery called WB’S Coffee House and Deli with large portraits of the poet on the walls and a delicious menu.
