Costume safety: Make sure the costumes fit well to prevent trips and falls. Also try wearing brightly coloured costumes. If needed, add reflective tape to make your child more visible at night.
Avoid masks: Don’t use masks that can obstruct vision. Instead, use non-toxic face paint or makeup.
Trick-or-Treat in groups: Make sure your kid is in a group. They should always go trick-or-treating with an adult or in a group.
Contact: You must have the phone number and address of all those where your kids will be going trick-or-treating. Also put your kid’s name, address and phone number on their costume.
Use sidewalks: Teach your kids to always walk on the sidewalk and use crosswalks when crossing streets.
Candy inspection: Do not let your kids eat Halloween candies without inspection. Make sure the candies are safe. Discard any candy with open or damaged wrappers.

Know your neighbours: Just go to neighborhoods and houses you are familiar with or you trust.
Avoid strangers: Tell your kids not to enter strangers' homes or vehicles. Ask them not to accept any food item from strangers.
Set a curfew time: Set a specific time for your child to return home.
Be cautious with decorations: Be aware of decorations on houses, as some can be tripping hazards.
