While a trumpet festival may not sound cool, you'd be really, really wrong if you thought this festival was a bunch of old trumpet players blowing off. More than 600,000 people converge on Guča—population 2000—for this free event and competition (it's not just a three-day festival but a competition as well). On the traditional side you have competing orkestras, playing three folk tunes each which dancers in their national dress move to, and on the other side you have the kind of world music fuelled party that is said to trump Glastonbury and Burning Man for its atmosphere. Have a look at the clips on youtube if you're still not convinced, the celebration takes place annually in early August.
