Dadar’s famous vegetable market temporarily shifted to new places

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or the BMC has shifted Mumbai's famous Dadar vegetable market to four new places to practise social distancing. The move is taken to discourage large gatherings at one place and to maintain a safe distance from one another which is essential to avoid Coronavirus.

BMC took the decision of shifting the Dadar SB Marg vegetable market after having a meeting with Mumbai Police. In the joint meeting, it was decided to partially shutter the Dadar market and shift various locations in the city and, as of now, the new markets are being held at Somaiya Ground, Sion; MMRDA's exhibition ground, BKC; Octroi Naka, Mulund; and Octroi Naka, Dahisar.
Dadar vegetable market is quite old in the region and vendors come here from different cities including Pune and Nashik. Now, these vendors are given the Somaiya Ground and MMRDA ground while retailers living in and between Ghatkopar and Matunga are asked to buy fruits and vegetables from Somaiya Ground. People in between Bandra and Goregaon can go to MMRDA grounds to buy basic veggies and fruits. Those vendors who live between Ghatkopar and Mulund need to visit Mulund octroi naka for purchase.

Not only this, to ensure Mumbaikar maintain social distancing, the BMC has also set up temporary markets in Ghatkopar and Chembur regions. The BMC is doing everything to ensure the safety of residents by asking them to stay home and providing everything they need.
As per current data, the number of positive cases has jumped to 320 in Maharashtra while Mumbai alone has 169 cases.
