Read More: Say hello to Vistadome, India’s first glass-roof train running between Mumbai and Goa
Although not in full swing, but the concept of Vistadome trains is gradually gaining popularity in India. After enthralling travellers on the Mumbai-Goa and Visakhapatnam-Araku line, the Vistadome trains are coming to the Kashmir Valley in order to boost the tourism there.
A 40-seater Vistadome train has been proposed jointly by the Union Railway Minister and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking of the facilities that will be made available in this train, the seats will have ample legroom and will also come with push-back options, and rotation options which will facilitate passengers in getting better views. Apart from these, in order to enhance the viewing experience for travellers, the coaches in this Vistadome train will have electrically controlled opalescence, which will let passengers control the transparency of the glass.
Apart from the above-mentioned features, these trains will also have modern amenities for passengers including GPS-based information system, LED lights, television screens and automatic sliding compartment doors. When it comes to the culinary experience, the train’s pantry will ensure that the travellers get a real taste of Kashmir as they will be served with authentic dishes from the local cuisine.
With designs enabling them to wade through extreme weather conditions, these trains are expected to operate in Kashmir throughout the year, and cover the 112-km route connecting Banihal and Baramulla.
