Fort Edmonton Park

For history buffs, there is no better place in the city to learn about Edmonton’s past than Fort Edmonton Park. Focusing on the fur trade era as well as the pioneer years of 1885, 1905 and 1920, visitors here can go back in time and experience what life was like in the past, mostly in an interactive set-up. The staff at Fort Edmonton Park is always dressed in period costume and ready to answer any question you have as well as take you on a journey through history. Popular attractions here include the Hudson Bay Company’s House from 1846, which has been reconstructed and explains fur trading at its finest. Along with learning about fur trading, visitors can visit a blacksmith, experience what it would be like to be a police officer and indulge in some yummy treats at the bakery. The next part of the journey will take them to the 1900s where they can experience a 1920s Midway complete with rides, games and penny arcades.
