Bhulmaria Forest is located inside the IVRI controlled forest area that is rich in flora and fauna. It is home to leopards, wild boar, deer, black bear, mongoose and over 250 species of big and small Himalayan birds. There is a mention of this forest in the book 'Man Eaters of Kumaon' written by the famous hunter turned conservationist Sir Edward James ‘Jim’ Corbett. While on his hunting sprees for the man eaters, he has stayed many times in a beautiful colonial Bungalow (now a PWD rest house), which is just walking distance from the temple. He has said to have shot one of the most infamous man eaters here. The kettle in which he used to brew tea for himself is preserved as legacy in the guest house. From the small park in this guest house you get the best view of the snow covered Himalayan ranges - Neelkantha (21569 ft), Nandaghunti (19233 ft), Trishul (23282 ft), Nandadevi (25562 ft), and the majestic Panchachuli peaks. On a clear day, the peaks of Api and Nampa (in Nepal) are also visible.
