One of Norway's most important contemporary artists
Noteworthy for: Pushwagner only achieved international recognition in 2008 when his work 'Soft City' - a dystopian pictorial novel produced in the 70s - was exhibited at the Berlin biennale.

Hariton Pushwagner – real name Terje Brofos - is one of Norway's most important and influential contemporary artists. Working mainly in paint and print, Pushwagner depicts nightmarish, often apocalyptic, scenes which explore the dehumanizing effects of mass production, modern warfare and state power. His gallery is located in Tjuvholmen, an exclusive islet of luxurious homes, restaurants and cafés growing out of the equally upscale port of Aker Brygge.
Only recently gaining international attention, Pushwagner has led a troubled life dominated by alcohol and drug abuse. In 1998 the unknown and homeless artist signed over his entire body of work – at the time about 2,000 pieces – to his agent, who agreed to waive the NOK 40,000 Pushwagner owed him. After a long and bitter court battle, Pushwagner finally regained the rights to his major works in 2009.
