Mount Batur

The volcanic Mount Batur and its surrounding lake make for a great trek up to the top. It’s a two-hour-long trudge so it’s a good idea to get going at the crack of dawn, and summit just in time to catch a magnificent sunrise over the Lombok strait. For those looking for more of a challenge, the four-hour-long trek up to Mount Agung at a height of 3,142 metres – the highest point on the island – might be more rewarding.
