A lovely winding one hour drive from Naukuchiatal to Ramgarh offers interesting vistas all the way. Deep valleys with stepped terraces, distant hills and tall pine trees give a glimpse of the beautiful landscape that Kumaon offers. The road meanders along the hills to Almora enroute Ramgarh. Golu Devata Temple at Ghodkal is mainly known for the offerings that devotees offer to the residing deity. Bells in different shapes and sizes are offered and it is quite a quirky place with bells hanging and tied all over. Naukuchiatal is not very popular for its tea estates, but the road from Golu Devata Temple passes by a tiny a tea estate before the valleys and pine trees resurfaces on the landscape. More expansive vistas open up throughout the drive and without a cue, the pine trees and valleys give way to snow-clad Himalayas and their sudden appearance is a delightful surprise. The magnanimous spread of white snow mountains for more than 300 km is a breathtaking sight. Nanda Koti, Nanda Devi, Trishul, Panchachuli are some of the peaks that are visible from the vantage points. Many fruits such as apples, apricots, peaches and pears are found abundantly in Ramgarh therefore it is often referred to as the fruit bowl of Kumaon. Once a cantonment area during the British rule, Ramgarh isn’t a very popular one on the tourist circuit and is quite serene and secluded.

Spent 5 days in April, whether was so good, mostly we were wearing woolen.Read More
