Drama Centre

The Drama Centre is a performing arts space located in the same building as the National Library along Bras Basah Road. It is not a very big space—with a theatre capacity of around 600 people and a black box—but this is where you have a good chance of catching some local Singaporean productions (usually theatre or music shows). Several of Singapore’s larger festivals like the M1 Fringe Festival and the Singapore International Festival of the Arts use this space as one of their venues. If you are early for a performance, do check out the National Library, which organises other literary events from time to time, and showcases some great exhibitions. Also, its glass façade and downtown location means it has a very nice view of the Singapore skyline in its higher levels, so I would recommend going earlier to explore the building, before getting dinner (the food outlets in the building tend to get very crowded, so you’re probably better off popping into the shopping centre next door) and watching your show.
