There is no shortage of winter hiking and snowshoeing opportunities in this city. Whether you will need those snowshoes or not depend on how much snow falls. Most people think they need to head outside the city to hit the trails but in fact the opposite is true. Nose Hill Park is one of the best spots for winter hiking, loaded with trails and incredible views of the city once you’re at the top of the Ravine. Besides the trails and wildlife, there is an open park and playground for kids, along with washrooms located near the parking lot. Fish Creek Provincial Park is a huge park loaded with a ton of trails, many of them plowed after a significant snowfall, making it easy to trek through them with just your winter boots. Just 45 minutes outside of the city is Heart Creek Trail, an easy half-day hike that is suitable for all ages and winds you over bridges, along a semi frozen creek and ends at an impressive frozen waterfall. It is worth taking your snowshoes or crampons along with you as this hike can get quite snowy and/or icy at times.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
