Doda-Jammu chopper service starts operating bi-weekly

In a move that could make travel easier, the Jammu and Kashmir Government is ready to start Doda-Jammu chopper service. Jammu to Doda road distance is around 165 km that takes close to 5 hours to complete. The service will cut down the time taken to travel between these two destinations by a large margin. Also, this move will help to boost tourism during the winter season because parts of the region get cut off during the season.

Jammu to Doda distance can be covered with the help of Pawan Hans helicopters that would operate every Tuesdays and Fridays every week. The bi-weekly chopper will cost INR 2,500 for one way and is definitely here to make some positive changes in the travel scene of the state. You need to book a day prior to your journey. In fact, the Jammu and Kashmir Government recently started similar services between Jammu-Poonch and Jammu-Rajouri.

The chopper service was launched with the first flight carrying local MLA Shakti Raj Parihar from Jammu to Doda. The helicopter then returned with four passengers and took off from the District Police Lines helipad. You can book your tickets from the office of the Deputy Director, Tourism.
This pretty much takes care of the question of reaching from Jammu to Doda and vice versa. However, the cost could be a hindering factor here. But rest assured, this should help a lot of people to travel back and forth these two districts at ease.
