Noosa, smack bang in the middle of the Sunshine Coast, is a lovely mix of beauty and seclusion. But once a year, for a few days every May, it occupies centre stage, especially in the culinary world as the best of Australia’s food and wine industry congregates here for the Noosa International Food and Wine Festival. A whirlwind of gastronomy, over 100 chefs arrive to showcase their skills and scout for the best local produce. The highlight of the event is of course the eight-course degustation dinner priced at nearly A$500 with each course being prepared by a world renowned chef and served at the iconic Berardo’s. A fallout of this event has been the reputation of something of a gastro-town with chic restaurants and eateries, many of them dotting the town’s high street, Hastings Street.
