The Indian Railways have received an appeal from the devotees of Baba Ramdev Pir of Jaisalmer to start a train service between Ludhiana and Pokhran in Rajasthan through Fazilka, which would make it easier for the people to visit the popular shrine.
According to the news reports, Baba Ramdev Yatri Sangh (Punjab) has written a letter to the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, requesting to consider the appeal, considering numerous pilgrims from Punjab visited the Baba Ramdev Temple in Jaisalmer. Brij Mohan Jhamb, the General Secretary of Baba Ramdev Yatri Sangh (Punjab), stated in the letter that no direct link was operational from Punjab to Jaisalmer due to which the devotees had to board train from far off stations or had to go via road, which was an expensive and inconvenient way to reach the temple.
The holy shrine is located en route Jaisalmer from Jodhpur, close to the famous Pokhran village in Ramdevra.
Miraculously, the king’s prayers were answered, and soon after, he became a father to two brilliant boys. It is believed that the younger child, Ramdev, was a messiah born to salvage the downtrodden and serve the society. He had several devotees and disciples.
The temple compound is surrounded by a very big market.
