On Decatur Street in the French Quarter, all along Jackson Square, it is common to see elegant horse carriages, done in red, white and brown, all lined up. Many decades ago, horses and horse carriages were the only way to get around the French Quarter. So you can step back in time with a ride on one of these carriages. For about $20 for 30 minutes, the carriage will take you on a slow ride around the French Quarter with a commentary on the history and the architecture of the place, interspersed with interesting information and anecdotes. You could also choose longer tours and extend the area covered.
