Fishermen’s Bastion is a neo gothic terrace situated in the castle hill district on Buda side overlooking the city of Budapest. Created next to Matthias Church in 19th century, its towers in marble white make a fairytale backdrop. Walk around the terrace and soak in the beauty of this historical capital. The vantage points offer stunning panoramic views of the Danube River, Hungarian Parliament building, Margaret Island and Pest side of the city. Matthias Church located in front of the Fishermen’s Bastion is a Roman Catholic church built in a classic gothic style. The church was used for coronation of many Hungarian kings. Built in 13th century, intricately carved church exteriors are adorned with striking orange tiled rooftop. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful monuments in Budapest covered with several medieval frescos and stained glass decorations. You can easily spend hours at Fishermen's Bastion overlooking the breathtaking expanse of the Danube River on one side and awe inspiring roofs of Matthias church on the other side.
