Shopping is a favourite pass time of mine; I’m not ashamed to admit! I think picking up the right souvenir from my travels will help me remember it later in life, whether it is jewellery, clothing, or home wares like a rug or lamp. I don’t necessarily go for the magnets and key chains rather search for things which are a little more ‘real life’ than souvenir pieces.
Prague has a lot to offer in terms of shopping, and there are many boutiques and small shops from where you can get very interesting clothing and homewares. The first place you will want to visit is the shoe shop Baťa. This is a family run shop that has been passed down the generations and is still loved by the masses. It’s been around since the 1920’s. There are unique shoes made by Baťa and also shoes that are from international brands. You can get a few other accessories here, made of leather, like bags.
Want some high-end clothing? You must go to the top designer in Prague, Klara Nademlynska. This is the brand many celebrities wear. Her shop is in the centre of Prague and is one that you won’t regret walking in. Her newest collection has evening gowns that are sleek and lacy. She also makes regular daywear like little sundresses, colourful patterned skirts, and jackets. Her pieces are modern and tailored. Right now, her khaki pantsuit is calling out!
Moser is a famous shop which sells bohemian glassware and was founded all the way back in 1857. The designs are completely over the top, which is perfect for some people! It comes from their factory in Karlovy Vary. Pick up some bowls, vases, and glasses and even have them shipped home. You can buy porcelain as well. The interesting thing about this glass is that it’s very durable yet it looks like crystal. How it’s made is their own secret! You can actually tour the factory and find out the majority of their secrets.
These are some of the most famous shops in Prague. While sightseeing is usually top priority, don’t forget that going inside the shops you are walking past on the way to the city centre, could be some hidden gems just waiting for you to buy.
