Croata specialises in a Croatian staple—the Cravat. Cravats form an intrinsic part of Croatia’s national heritage. They are to Croatians what berets are to the French. Consequently, Croatians take their cravats very seriously. Legend has it that Croatian girls would tie scarves around their lovers’ necks as they were leaving for war. This tradition caught the eye of the French and the neck scarf gained popularity as a man’s fashion accessory rather quickly. Gradually it became the staple as it is today. Croata pays homage to this tradition by curating a selection of shawls, scarves and cravats made out of decadent silks. Many celebrities and dignitaries frequent the store, which has contributed to its immense popularity. Today, Croata is the go-to store for the finest scarves in all of Dubrovnik. It’s also a bit of a mecca for tourists looking for picking a light yet a special souvenir for their loved ones back home.
