The much-awaited Swarn project of the Indian Railways is here, and the first gold standard (Swarn) train will be showcased on November 6, 2017, Monday. The first train under the Swarn project is going to be the New Delhi-Kathgodam Shatabdi Express.
Involving an upgradation cost of INR 50 lakh for each train, these trains will have brand new interiors that will include a lot of interesting things, from new on-board entertainment to trolley service for catering.

Apart from the new interiors, punctuality of these trains and improved security systems inside the coaches will also be the key focus areas of the Swarn project. While new CCTVs will be installed across the coaches, moe RPF personnel will also be deputed.
As far as the new Kathgodam Shatabdi under the Swarn project is concerned, Northern Railways focussed on three key areas while giving it a makeover-aesthetics, hygiene and entertainment.
Some of the major facelifts given inside the train’s coaches include the marking of the compartment aisle with fluorescent strips to guide the travellers, vibrant vinyl wrapping of the walls, anti-graffiti coating of the exteriors, upgradation of toilets with features such as dustbins and personal seat covers, disposable headrest covers in executive coaches, Braille signage integration, and installation of automatic odour and hygiene control systems in all the coaches among other things.

As far as the dose of entertainment in these trains is concerned, passengers will now be able to enjoy HD streaming within the coaches through the Wi-Fi hotspots available inside.
