Yes, there is actually a Chocolate Carnival and it is hosted by none other than Cadbury, one of the most well-known chocolate brands in the world. This annual event is held every summer for a week, delighting chocolate lovers of all ages with its tours, chocolate decorations and the ultimate Cadbury Crunchie Train. The carnival is also host to the famous Cadbury Jaffa Race, where balls of orange sugar-coated chocolates are rolled down the world’s steepest street. There are ice skating events, chocolate demonstrations, guided kids activities and much more. The Crunchie Train ride alone is enough to entice visitors though, where visitors hop on board the Taieri Gorge Railway to discover the fantastic scenery between Dunedin and Hindon. Interestingly, there are suspicious characters are on board looking to steal the loot. Besides, children’s stories are read aloud by the staff. Other fun activities include chocolate fishing, where visitors can take a dip in the eel pond and learn how to protect these creatures, as well as earn a chocolate prize for perfecting their fishing skills as an added bonus.
