If the headline has you hooked, know that getting the prize money of $20000 (INR 14.35 lakhs) is not as easy as it reads. The McKamey Manor is believed to be one of the scariest horror houses in the world, and rightly so. You can bag the prize only if you manage to stay inside for 10 hours, a feat that nobody has been able to pull off yet.
Once in, visitors are subjected to physical and psychological torture; one even might be bound or gagged in the manor. There are reports of visitors forced to eat unidentified substances as well. The visitors also need to watch a 2-hour orientation video before getting in. You would be thrilled to know that even with these many requirements, there is a year-long wait and over 24000 people in the queue!
Forget the prize money, even entering the house is not that easy as you will be required to sign a 40-page waiver and need to be 21 years of age or above. People between 18-20 years of age can also permit but only after parental approval. Those intending to visit also need a clean chit and a doctor’s certificate to get an entry in the manor. And yes, if you are successful in staying inside the manor for 10 hours, you will get to walk home richer by $20000.
Interestingly, the only fee required here is dog food for the manor owner has five dogs!
