The Chicago O’Hare International Airport is the main airport in Chicago, located about 17 miles north of downtown Chicago. Most major airlines fly into O’Hare, with United Airlines, Continental and American Airlines making up most of the traffic.
To travel between the airport and downtown Chicago, passengers can take a shuttle bus, train or taxi. Rental cars are also available for pickup and drop-off at O'Hare. The most affordable option is to take the CTA blue line L train at USD 2.25, which takes 45 minutes each way. Outside rush hour (between 4pm - 6pm weekdays) a taxi is quickest, but will set you back USD 40.
If you get hungry, note that O'Hare is blessed with above-airport-quality food in the form of Rick Bayless' Tortas Frontera, which serves excellent Mexican snacks.
