Lesser known than its famous neighbours Makaibari and Glenburn, visitors at Goomtee get to stay in a 100-year-old heritage bungalow at a height of about 4000 feet, with sweeping views of the valleys and mountains. Located in south Kurseong, the estate has a total area of about 500 acres, out of which 50 percent is currently used for tea plantation. Producing mainly black tea and employing over 300 workers, the garden originally belonged to the pioneering British tea planter Henry Lennox in 1899. Visitors at Gomtee can spend the day in the tea gardens, visit the tea factory, don the role of a tea taster, converse with tea pickers and taste freshly-brewed tea from the factory.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
