For history buffs, there is no better place in the city to learn about Edmonton than Fort Edmonton Park, where you can go back in time. Focusing on the fur trade era, as well as the pioneer eras of 1885, 1905 and 1920, visitors here will have the chance to really experience what life was like, in an interactive setting. The staff at Fort Edmonton Park is always dressed in period costume, and ready to answer any questions you have, as well as take you on a journey through history. Popular attractions here include the Hudson Bay Company’s House from 1846, which has been reconstructed and explains fur trading at its finest. Along with learning about fur trading, visitors can visit a blacksmith, experience what it would be like to be a police officer, and indulge in some yummy treats at the bakery. The next part of your journey will take you into the 1900s where you can experience a 1920’s midway, complete with rides, games and penny arcades. Dress up in period costumes, learn about the history of Edmonton, and enjoy a fun filled day at Fort Edmonton Park. It is suitable for both kids and adults.
